Procedures and Fees
The first step in commissioning a portrait with Belinda is to discuss the details of the portrait the client envisions. This conversation can occur by phone, in her home, by e-mail or mail. Belinda and the client will then set an appointment to take photographs of the subject, observe personality traits and make on-sight sketches.
Belinda prefers to take the photographs outside in natural light with elements of the landscape for the background whenever possible. From these photos as well as observations of body attitudes, facial expressions, and qualities that reflect personality, Belinda will make several pen and ink sketches that reference specific photos for the client. These reference sketches give the client some choices concerning facial expressions, poses, and the compositions as well the size and media.
Belinda works in aqueous media, watercolor on archival boards, and traditional painting stretched on linen canvas. Paintings usually require several months to a year, unless there are immediate needs.
